Photoshop Rant

September 24, 2014

I’ve been using Photoshop for years now. It is one of the most useful programs out there, but also has a steep learning curve.

I’m not going to complain about the learning curve, tool location, nothing like that.

I’m complaining about how terrible it is with multiple monitors (at least on OSX).

If I disconnect from my laptop from my external monitors, maximize Photoshop and then reconnect, Photoshop is no longer on one screen. It’s somehow in the weird state where the title bar – the only way to move the window, is off the screen with no way of getting it back. This has happened to me more times than I can count.

Also, I’m using Spectacle, a great app for quickly resizing windows. It mimics many of the shortcuts found in Windows. It’s one of my must-have Mac apps. However, Photoshop doesn’t resize when using Spectacle. My problems with other windows in weird states are normally solved this way. But not Photoshop.

Since Adobe won’t move to native full screen support, and instead have their own implementation, it doesn’t look like these window problems will change all that soon.
