Last Year’s Resolution

Last year I went with a super simple resolution: 30 minutes of cardio per day, every day. I allowed myself substitution days of 60 minutes for hiking or walking the dog, mostly because I didn’t want to kill my knees.

It could be 30 minutes running, or interval training, or rowing. Or 60 minutes hiking, snowshoeing, walking.

There were days where I’d miss. That meant the next day had to be double. Double days were rough.

I made it the whole year. Other than makeup days, there was no cheating.

This year I’m going to do the same, at least to start. I might try to push it more, but 30 minutes is super concise and simple. Going to 60 is a lot of time. Maybe I’ll do 45, but running for 45 minutes will grind my knees fast. We’ll see.
