In Love with Kotlin
August 25, 2017At Rocket, I’ve done the last couple projects either partially or totally with Kotlin. It simply has made my life better.
Kotlin is a language that I’m happy coding. I remember when I first did some Ruby years ago, that Ruby was designed for developer happiness. I feel the same way about Kotlin.
Here’s Jake Wharton’s talk on Kotlin from 2015, when I didn’t even know it was an option.
The next project I’ll be working on will be entirely in Kotlin. The other entirely Kotlin project was a nearly trivial mini-app that didn’t have an API backend. That was fun and easy to crank out, but now it’s time to put Kotlin through it’s paces.
As a bonus, Swift is like Kotlin. For my one iOS app Type, I used Swift and liked it. That was before I was able to really dive into Kotlin and now I feel like it’ll be easy to switch back and forth. Here’s hoping.
